Dad down with Dengue Fever again
It has been about 5 years since we had dengue fever.
Last week, dad has been on MC for fever. We all thot it was just a common cold as the weather has started to turn cold. But as the fever persisted over the next few days and rashes started to appear, we knew it was dengue.
Dad was asked to have his blood test taken at TTSH on Sunday and it was suspected that he got dengue as his blood count was low (113). He was asked to recuperate at home and scheduled for another blood test in 2 days time.
Fever did not subside and the blood test results on Tuesday shows 55. The doctor advised him to return to TTSH. Accompanied him to TTSH the same night for admission. He was sent to the Communicable Disease Centre (CDC), which was quite a long walk from TTSH.
Yesterday's blood test shows a further drop to 44. We were all scared and kept praying for him.
Today's blood test result shows 71. :) Awaiting further advice from the doctor.
Hope the blood count continues to increase and may pa have a speedy recovery and be able to be discharged from hospital fast! His whole hands have been pasted with plasters from all the blood tests. And those brusies after the blood tests... Poor pa.
