Driving Lesson 11/ Private Lesson 9

Continued with vertical parking again for today. Think I might have gotten the hang of when to turn. The instructor also taught how to bring the car straight if it's slanted. Think he mentioned something about "Turn more, move less".

See the instructor eat his lunch, take his nap n hear him snore while i continue to mess around with his car. Woke him up finally when I knocked down the pole and stalled the engine.

After practising on vertical parking, drove 2 rounds on main road, with fear. Jerked the car by stepping n releasing on the accerelator while on Gear 1. Don't ask me why I did that. Haha... Too stressed to know why either... ;p

How many Household Chores r there altogether?

Hmmm... Today, while I was sweeping the floor, I got so boliao that I started to count how many possible household chores can there be altogether... *hee*
  1. Sweeping the Floor
  2. Mopping the Floor
  3. Washing Clothes
  4. Folding Clothes
  5. Ironing Clothes
  6. Cooking
  7. Boiling water
  8. Washing dishes
  9. Buying grocceries
  10. Making the bed

(That's all I can think of...) Any more to add on?

  • Of which, I hate item 2 & 3.
  • Item 6 is the most fun of them all and also the hardest to find guinea pigs to sample the food.

Ma's Birthday! =]

Yesterday was such an eventful day that I turned in early and only get to blog about it today. ;p

The day started with Auntie No. 4 & Cousin YIX calling to wish ma "Happy Birthday" at 6 plus in the morning. Ma got up n went for her morning exercise while I continued with my sweet dream...

Then I was suddenly awoken by raindrops falling outside the window... "OMG! Ma is still out, doing exercise w/o an umbrella!" So I jumped up, changed n brought brollies to rescue the birthday girl.

Afternoon's lunch was settled at a Japanese conveyer-belt restaurant, where Ma tried some Jap cruisine. Afterwhich we shopped for some grocceries and came home to prepare dinner. My dear dear cousins helped to prepare desserts. *Yummy* What a foodful day! :p

Sagu, Sakim, Cousins Doh Reh Mih & AH Jie Jie joined us for dinner with their presents and warm wishes for ma. Dinner was great with their company and jokes. =)

After dinner, it was presents opening ceremony for the birthday girl.

Many thanks to: (in order of presents arrival timing)
- Cousin ELin & Family
- Cousin YIX
- Cousins Doh Reh Mih
- Cousin AH

Driving Lesson 10 / Private Lesson 8

If 30 lessons r required to complete the driving course, I think I am almost 1/3 through.

Today, the whole lesson was devoted on learning vertical parking, with 2 poles as indicators. Have the tendency to knock the 2nd pole down because steer too late, reverse too fast. Car always end up slanted because still dunno how to gauge when is the car straight.

Instructor couldn't stand my deterioration any more, picked up his cane and standby.

06.06.06

Today is 06.06.06 (6th June 2006).

Read from the papers sometimes ago that today is a popular day almost couples who r planning for their marriage -- becoz of the digital date.

I think dates like 08.08.08 and 09.09.09 muz have been fully booked as Chinese believe that 08.08.08 stands for prosperity and 09.09.09 symbolises long lasting.

Chinese always have this belief that it's important to study the fengshui and to pick the "right" time for couples to get married so that their marriage will be blessed. They'll study the 生 [sheng1] 辰 [chen2] 八 [ba1] 字 [zi1] (birth date & time) of the groom and bride to determine when is the best date and time to get married. I heard from my friends too that they also picked the best date and time to 安 [an1] 床 [chuang2] (set the position of the newly wed's bed) so that everything will be right from the start of the marriage.

I guess the waiting for the ripe time (the anticipation) and the rush to get everything done before the ripe time (the "kan cheong-ness") muz have been the highlight of the day. ;p

Whatever it is, I think things are done, customs are observed, for an ease of mind. Sometimes, it's safer to believe & follow than question & disobey, right? haha... Timid Girl's thought. =D

j-a-s-m-i-n-e (Part II)

Back by popular demand:

It was 12 midnight as the grandfather clock striked...

Timid girl was making her round to ensure that all doors were locked.

Then, there was scent of Jasmine in the air. Timid girl gathered her courage as she walks towards the balcony to investigate...

As she looked out of the balcony, she saw Jasmine flowers blossoming at her neighbour's balcony. Since when did her neighbour planted Jasmine? -- She thought.

She relaxed and enjoyed the refreshing smell of Jasmine from her balcony... =) Her suspicion has been answered.

"What about the traces of sandal wood scent?" - She never did get to find out...

My Sesame Street Persona Test

Bert
You scored 81% Organization, 50% abstract, and 57% extroverted!

This test measured 3 variables.

First, this test measured how organized you are. Some muppets like Cookie Monster make big messes, while others like Bert are quite anal about things being clean.

Second, this test measured if you prefer a concrete or an abstract viewpoint. For the purposes of this test, concrete people are considered to gravitate more to mathematical and logical approaches, whereas abstract people are more the dreamers and artistic type.

Third, this test measured if you are more of an introvert or an extrovert. By definition, an introvert concentrates more on herself and an extrovert focuses more on others. In this test an introvert was somebody that either tends to spend more time alone or thinks more about herself.

You are very organized, both concrete and abstract, and both introverted and extroverted.

Here is why are you Bert.

You are both very organized. You almost always know where your belongings are and you prefer things neat. You may even enjoy cleaning and find it therapeutic. Bert is a big neat freak and gets quite annoyed when Ernie makes a big mess.

You both are sometimes concrete and sometimes abstract thinkers. Bert is probably a bit more concrete in his bottlecap collecting addiction and his love of the weather. He does show his abstract side when he sings and performs his "Doin' The Pidgeon" song. You have a good balance in your life. You know when to be logical at times, but you also aren't afraid to explore your dreams and desires... within limits of course.

You are both somewhat introverted. Bert is probably more introverted, because he spends most of his time either with Ernie or alone. Still he has no problem being around other people in his role as chairman of "The National Association of 'W' Lovers." Like Bert, you probably like to have some time to yourself, but you do appreciate spending time with your friends, and you aren't scared of social situations.

The other possible characters are
Oscar the Grouch
Big Bird
Snuffleupagus
Ernie
Elmo
Kermit the Frog
Grover
Cookie Monster
Guy Smiley
The Count

My test tracked 3 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:

  • You scored higher than 94% on Organization
  • You scored higher than 32% on concrete-abstra
  • You scored higher than 33% on intro-extrovert

Driving Lesson 9/ Private Lesson 7

Did vertical parking and directional change for the whole lesson today. Only thing that I still don't get it is - "How to see that my car is straight?" Instructor always said my car is slanted but I can't see it from my driver's seat.

While practising, the instructor went to pluck star fruits from a nearby tree for me to bring home.

When driving back, the car engine stalled once behind a big bus coz yours truly was kinda initimidated by the bus, then coordination all out! =D
