Joshua's Birthday Party!

Last evening, most of us gathered at Aunty Woodland's place to celebrate Baby Joshua's 2-year old birthday. I think the big crowd might have made our dear Joshua a little shy and he kept clinging to his ma like a koala bear. ;p So cute!!!

When he finally warmed up, he opened 2 of our presents - the 2 red buses, and started playing. Opening and closing the bus doors, moving the buses, lying on the floor to look into the buses and sitting on top of the big red bus. So cute!!!

Joshua's birthday cake is very cute too! A Swenson ice-cream cake decorated with animal train (or are those cars?)

And Joshua learnt a few more words last nite... "Cut Cake", "Ice-Cream"... So cute!!!

May Joshua grow up to be a smart and obedient boy and of coz, staying cute forever! =)

How Do People See Me?

Slow and Steady

Your friends see you as painstaking and fussy.
They see you as very cautious, extremely careful, a slow and steady plodder.
It'd really surprise them if you ever did something impulsively or on the spur of the moment.
They expect you to examine everything carefully from every angle and then usually decide against it.

Is this how you see me?

Take Quiz: How Do People See You?

How Do I Communicate...

You Communicate With Your Ears

What people say is important to you, and you're often most affected by words, not actions.

You love to hear complements from others. And when you're upset, you often talk to yourself.

Music is very important to you. It's difficult to find you without your iPod.

Personal Evaluation:

  • The part about me being affected by words is quite true... But I think I am affected by actions too.
  • The part about talking to myself... Hmmm... Maybe not aloud.
  • The part about music being very important to me is true. I need music in my life but I haven't got an iPod (Just my Creative MP3 player which often runs low of batt due to long playing hours.) =p

Driving Lesson 15/ Private Lesson 13

Went for my driving lesson again this afternoon.

Drove around the main road before going in to Lentor to do some directional change (by the papaya tree). As it's a downwards sloping road, I gotta step on the break and release the clutch till biting point before releasing break to move on. Engine stalled quite a few times while practising directional change. Grrr...

Then, for the rest of the lesson, I practised on vertical parking, with a heavy downpour outside. Couldn't see the windscreen and the pole clearly. Instructor threatened that if I knock down the pole, I would have to go out in the rain to put it back. There was a near-hit but I drove out and re-try again.

By the end of the lesson, my left knee aches. Ouch!

A Family of Shoppers?

Hmm... This weekend was quite fun-filled with activities. We had an afternoon of family shopping at Bishan J8 today.

Before starting off, we had our lunch at Bishan Sxx. Our verdict - Although we finished all our food, we find that the food standard has somehow dropped...

After lunch, it was planned shopping for Bro, who went around looking for shirts, while I tried on a few pants and Ma went to a few opticians to find suitable spectacles frames to replace her "home-cooking glasses", which was destroyed during her morning exercise when someone accidentially stepped on it. Ma din't find any frame to her liking... So, we went back to our kampong to continue the search.

Finally, we found "the fateful optician" with good service, good advice and reasonable pricing. Ma chose a frame (Armani Next) - same brand, similar design as mine. Think we would look more like mother n daughter now, wearing similar spectacles. haha... Think she was happy with her choice of frame after all!

Afterwhich, Ma and Bro went home first while Dad n I continue to search for cheap phone deals. Just when we thot it was a fruitless hunt, we stumbled across yet another BIGGER RED BUS (with doors that can be opened). haha... So now, Joshua has 2 Red buses waiting for him to play. =)

Thomas & Friends ~Yeah~

Yesterday, beside going out for tea with kor, I had this aim to hunt for a toy bus with doors that can open as a gift for my favorite nephew, whose birthday is coming soon.

Kor insisted that there is no such thing as bus with doors that can opened coz during his times, bus already had sliding doors (dun ask me which times does this kor came from)... Not wanting to give up, we dropped by Centrepoint's toy department to start our search for bus with doors that can be opened.

Kor found this red little Thomas & Friends series bus named Bulgy. I shaked my head in dismay coz the doors cannot be opened and it's quite puny. But after walking around the toy department, there doesn't seemed to be any more other buses... So, I thot "Hey! This Bulgy doesn't look that bad either." So, kor brought me to this Thomas & Friends' section. Wow! There were more trains n exciting carriages. Think we behaved like little kids, searching for more treasures, while the true-blue little kids stood around, trying to catch a glimpse of the trains, fascinated by our excitement I guess. :p

In the end, I bought the little red bus (Bulgy), a little train engine (Mike) & a magic cargo carriage which can change its contents everytime u open the door. Coolz!

Not feeling satisfied, I proceeded to Paragon's Toy R Us to continue my search for bus with doors that can be opened. Finally... I FOUND IT!!! So happy!! I bought another bigger red bus with doors that can be opend and a box of Japan's bullet train set for my dear Nephew Joshua. =)

High Tea Treat

Hmm... Haven't met kor for quite some time since his birthday in May and he couldn't even recognise me la! (Muz be my ugly permed hair.) ^_^!!!

Many thanks to kor for treating me to this high tea at Tea Cosy By Electic Attic, a place which sells antique + some delicacies. The baked shitake and creme mushrooms with melted parmesan cheese and tomato were nice, the mini-cakes were ok, the foie gras was yum! Well, this is my first time trying out this foie gras thingy. Think it's the same for kor too. The sauce might have helped abit in making it taste yummilious though.

Somehow, this kor has opened my tiny eyes to some yummy stuff like salmon sashimi n foie gras... although he (still) thinks that my appetite wld be better w/o him around. *muhaha*

Gals' Nite Out

Woo..Hoo...

We had out monthly Gals' Nite Out yesterday at MSq. What can I say... The food was good and the companies were great!

Our first stop was dinner at this Lerky Thai Restaurant (which somehow was mis-read by us as "J"erky Thai Restaurant). The food was good. We had crab-stick rolls, stewed beef noodles (nice soup), green curry chicken, pineapple rice and tom yam soup (which is super nice coz it clears my blocked nose.) haha...

Then it was random shopping around the mall before we proceed to our next stop - Ministry of Food, where we had our dessert... It was macha ice cream for 3 of my gfs and rock melon hokkaido gelato for me. Yum! We ate and chatted till the waitresses get ready to close shop.

[YW's cuppa macha ice cream]

It was a great nite out! =) Thanks to YW for organising.

Driving Lesson 14/ Private Lesson 12

Today, it rained a little when I started to drive...

Practised some directional change and vertical parking. Think it has been quite a while since I last tried vertical parking... so kinda rusty in skill. My main road driving has oso been quite unsteady too.

Knee got tired after driving... Think was kinda off-form today.

Does Age Matter?

She is 27, he is 47... For the past few days, when I flipped through the papers, I keep seeing pictures of this sweet-looking singer announcing her wedding plans with this datuk, who is 20 yrs her senior... Then I read comments from some of her fans about the wide age gap, saying that she could easily find someone more successful and of her age group.

Does age matter? (",)?

i didn't used to think that age mattered but now i do. age determines which phase of life u r in, which in terms determines the priorities in your life. sure u can learn lots from someone older than u, but in an intimate relshp, there could be a clash of priorities and lifestyle. being in a relshp with someone so much older can also rob one of the opportunity to develop certain skills because one is constantly relying on the maturity of the older half. but ultimately, if both the persons are at the same developmental stage psychologically, emotionally, mentally, then perhaps they are comaptible although I doubt it is healthy coz how can someone 20 yrs older be developmentally 20yrs behind? But,as we well know, many girls marry men who resemble their fathers..... and men marry women who resemble their mothers. because it is a relationship dynamic they are used to and comfortable with - also soothing because it reminds them of the security of a mother or father figure ..... the discussion could go on endlessly, but in short, i do not think it healthy to marry someone 20 yrs older unless it is his money u r interested in.

maybe she is looking for a father figure in her husband, just as many men look for a mother figure in their wives. this is unhealthy psychology. period.

A Day Out With My Family

It has been quite a long while since we last went out for an outdoor activity as a family.

This outing was triggered by an innocent request from mum, saying that she wished to experience cycling althou she can't cycle. So, Cousins Doh, Reh, Mih, Brother and I planned this trip to East Coast Park.

The weather looked gloomy, with rain clouds threatening to start a downpour any minute. But that din't dampen our spirit. We set off with the good company of Godma, Aunty No. 4, and Cousins Doh, Reh, Mih, Yix.

The weather at East Coast Park looked just fine. Perfect for cycling. We rented 3 double-seated bicycles and took turns to cycle. It was a first-time experience on a double-seated bicycles for most of us. Mum shared the bike, with dad pedalling and steering at the front seat. Hee. It was funny to hear how mum and dad nearly banged into a dustbin when negotiating a turn! *hahaha*

We returned our bikes after a good 2-hour cycling, played some beach volley and soccer before proceeding for dinner and returning home.

It has been a fun-filled day, althou some of us suffered from butt-ache after sitting on the hard bicycle seats. ;p

Thanks to Cousins Doh, Reh, Mih for making this outing a success! *Muack* =)

Driving Lesson 13/ Private Lesson 11

Today's lesson was rated "Fruitful".

I finally get to start off the lesson at the driver's seat. *hee*

Drove around the main road for about half an hour before going in to Lentor to practice directional change.

Then, the instructor taught me vertical parking... Really confusing. Got 4 poles to monitor, gotta switch from reverse to first gear, gotta monitor the side mirror, gotta turn dunno how many rounds of steering wheel to the left and right . I am too confused to write down the step by step instructions now. Need to picture n recap. :p

When expectation differs...

It begins with me, wanting to go for a SIMPLE haircut and a NORMAL hair highlight...

Then while waiting for my turn, I browsed thru this hairstyle magazine and saw this nice hairstyle which is slightly WAVY... I want that kinda hairstyle... N so, that is my EXPECTATION...

When it was finally my turn, I showed the picture to the hairstylist. She said that requires perming. So, i said okie, DUN WANT TOO CURLY - just wavy like the picture...

The end result is as the title of my blog post. I dun even have the eyes to see. CURLY! >.<

The hairstylist highlighted my hair to give it some*feel* and I sat there for a good 3 hours until my butt ached.

My family were shocked to see my new image. haha... Well, I was shocked too. So, yep. I need to get used to this new image and live with it, stylistly...

Which Man is truly my type?

Your type is the Romantic

There's no such thing as too much wining and dining! You're a sucker for theRomantic. Some flowers...a nice dinner...a little music right up your alley!

Your type places his woman on a pedestal and treats her like a princess. That's exactly what you crave. Whether you need it or not, you like the reassurance that a romantic guy provides. With him, you never feel taken for granted.

You don't fall for the tough-guy act. In fact, you're turned off by a guy who's not in touch with his feminine side.

The sensitive male who properly courts a woman will steal your heart every time.

A little traditional? Yup.

A little old-fashioned? Maybe so.

But did a little extradoting ever hurt anyone? Definitely not.

(strictly for GIRLS only)

Driving Lesson 12/ Private Lesson 10

After 2 weeks of break from driving, I've finally arranged for a lesson today, hoping that my "engine" hasn't gone too rusty.

Today's lesson was quite shiok. Instructor came to pick me up near my place (yeah! save MRT fare).

Then, I drove for 1.5 hours on the main road all the way.

I thot today's lesson was quite fruitful. I learnt a few stuff:
  • When and how to negotiate U turn,
  • How to move off and stop on upward slope (lots of balancing which I m still not used to)

Instructor commented that althou I look "si si wen wen", I m quite rough... (turned too violently on the steering wheel, stepped too hard on the brake, anyhow maneuver the gear) :p

Lesson ended near my place again... (Yeah! Another save on MRT fare!) *Big Grinz*
